Capital Campaign

With a rapidly growing enrollment expected to peak at 500 students by 2025, the time is now to complete the dream first developed so many years ago. Temporary modular classrooms are in place to accommodate the immediate growth, but they are just that, temporary. There is no choice but to launch the third capital campaign in the school’s history to complete that vision.

The Where Faith and Innovation Meet Campaign allows the school to remain true to its Catholic traditions while creating a cutting-edge teaching and learning environment to prepare our students for their future. The construction of a 42,000 square foot Innovation Center and black box theater, to serve as the primary high school building while the current building becomes the middle school, will accommodate 340 students in one of the most forward-thinking educational facilities in our state. Not only will our students graduate as scholars with a soul but they will be well prepared to be the innovative problem-solvers and ethical leaders of tomorrow.

As our patron saint famously stated many years ago, “Nolite Timere”, or be not afraid. We ask you to join us on this exciting journey. An investment in John Paul II Catholic School is an investment in the future of our school, the region, the state, and, ultimately, our world.

Phase I

Phase I plan calls for a new 160 vehicle parking lot behind the current athletic center. To make room,  the multipurpose  field is being relocated east of the baseball field. A new visitor’s softball dugout, along with windscreens on both baseball and softball outfield fences will be added. A traffic consultant has been engaged to study and recommend how best to route traffic through the campus. Because the THE MASTERPLAN school is now becoming a campus and not just a building, a brick wall, fencing and a gatehouse are being designed which will ensure our school is one of the most secure and safe anywhere. The sand volleyball court will be relocated and we plan to add an outdoor basketball court next to it. This work should begin by the fall of 2023 with completion scheduled by the end of the calendar year.

Phase II

Planning for Phase II, design and construction of the Innovation Center, will begin in earnest February 2023. We expect to break ground for construction in January of 2024 in order to complete the new facility by August of 2025. This new building will increase student capacity to 500 and will primarily serve the high school, with the current building becoming the middle school. The building will also feature a multipurpose black box theater for the performing arts and other school use. Depending on the success of the capital campaign, we plan to add a kitchen for food service and an outdoor classroom/dining facility. Total cost of the project is expected to be between $27 and $30 million, with $20,000,000 raised through the campaign and $10,000,000 borrowed.

Phase III & IV

Phases III and IV are planned for the future. Phase III is to complete our athletic facilities with a new multipurpose stadium, tennis courts, lighting for all fields, locker rooms and fitness center, as well as the completion of the frontage road and new entrance coming from Beaufort. Phase IV will be the chapel, serving as the cornerstone of our Catholic identity and creating the visual link for the school Where Faith and Innovation Meet.

NAMING AND RECOGNITION OPPORTUNITIES

Where Faith and Innovation Meet: The Campaign affords donors an attractive range of prominent and meaningful opportunities to link their name, or the name of a family member or honored friend, in perpetuity with the life and work of John Paul II Catholic School. Groups of neighbors could combine to create a leadership gift in the name of the community in which they live. Such naming and recognition opportunities include the dedication of the Innovation Center, the black box theater, classrooms, collaboration spaces, offices, and shared common areas within this new facility. Upon reaching the goal of the buildings, additional future naming opportunities will exist in Phase III as the athletic facilities become developed. We invite all parents, grandparents, families, foundations, neighborhoods, and friends to partner with us by considering a permanent naming and recognition opportunity as part of our Leadership Phase.
