Admissions Steps

Complete an Online Inquiry
Schedule a Family Tour by Calling Admissions Office , 843-645-3838 ext. 109
Submit an Online Application
Submit a Records Request Form to your child's current school (form below and on application) Download and print form. Parent/guardian completes top portion of the form and submits form to the registrar of current school. The registrar will then submit school records directly to JPII.
Call Admissions Office to Register for Student Visit Day (optional)
Register For Placement Test. We use the High School Placement Test for rising 9th grade and our school placement test for 7th/8th grade applicants on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at 9am. Applicants will receive an email with more information regarding placement testing.
Interview - Each applicant from a non-feeder school must have an interview with one of our principals. This can be done during the family tour or arranged for a different date. We can also conduct interviews via Zoom if necessary.

All students must have updated South Carolina immunization certificate on file. Per diocesan mandate we do not accept religious exemptions.

Private Campus Tour

Our admissions process begins with meeting prospective families for a private tour of the JPII campus. This provides families the opportunity to have an in-depth look into our school by visiting classrooms and meeting current students and faculty members during the school day. This also provides us the opportunity to get to know each prospective family and student and begin building our relationship together throughout the admissions process.

Visit Days

JPII also has visit days for prospective students to spend some time during the school day on campus for student-led tours, classroom visits, and meeting current students. A registration form is required for Visit Days. Please call or email our admissions department to have a registration form emailed to you.

High School Placement Test

We use the High School Placement Test (HSPT) for incoming 9th graders with Scholastic Testing Service, Inc. It is a test that is used readily across the nation for admission/placement to independent or Catholic high schools. It is a closed form of testing; therefore, we use a scoring/leasing program with the company. All testing materials must be returned each year. This particular test asks questions in two general areas: cognitive skills and basic skills. There are subcategories within the cognitive skills of verbal and quantitative and subcategories in basic skills of reading, language, and mathematics.

You must submit a school application before you will be able to register for testing. An email will be sent to applicants with registration details.

9th Grade Scholarship

John Paul II is offering four academic scholarship opportunities for the rising 9th grade class for the 2025/2026 school year. These scholarships are need blind and families are not required to apply for tuition assistance for their child to be eligible.

To be eligible, a current 8th grade student must take the High School Placement Test (HSPT) on Saturday, February 1 at John Paul II. All 9th grade JPII applicants are required to take the HSPT not only for scholarship purposes, but it also aids with course placement. The test is optional for current JPII rising 9th grade students and must only be taken if the family would like their child to be considered for an academic scholarship. Current JPII students must be enrolled for the 2025/2026 school year to be eligible.

Students who score in the top 10% of those taking the test at JPII on February 1 will be considered semi-finalists and will be notified by the school by mid-late February. Students applying for the scholarship will then be required to submit a 250 word essay : “Why I want to become/remain a Golden Warrior. A scholarship committee consisting of the principal, a counselor, and a 9th grade teacher will then select four finalists for interviews. One of those students will be awarded the Monsignor Ronald Cellini Scholarship, consisting of a $5000 award towards tuition for each year they are enrolled at JPII, for a total of $20,000. The three remaining finalists will receive $2,500 towards their 9th grade tuition.
