Wrestlers Pin the Northwood Academy Tournament

The John Paul II Warrior Wrestling Team competed in the 16 team Northwood Academy Tournament this weekend and came back home as team champions, edging out team runner-up Timberland High School by a score of 161.5 to 159.5!  The Warriors came out on fire and never let up the entire tournament.  ALL 11 of the John Paul II wrestlers who competed in the tournament finished in the top 4 individually at their weight classes.  

Individually, the JPII wrestlers won 36 of the 48 contested matches (a 75%-win percentage). Statistically, the Warriors also had a bonus point victory percentage of 78% in their 36 wins with 24 pin falls, 3 technical falls (15+ point differential over opponent) and 1 major decision (8-to-14-point differential over opponent).

Individual Champions:

  • Jack Duncan (3-0): 2 technical falls, 1 pinfall
  • Jase Reynolds (4-0): 4 pins, including a dramatic comeback in the finals

Runner-Ups:

  • Brody Farris (2-1): 2 pins
  • Daniel Snyder (3-1): 1 major decision, 1 injury default, 9-second pin
  • Jack Hannagan (2-1): 1 decision, 1 pin
  • Taylor Murphy (3-1): 3 pins, highlighted by a key throw to secure his finals spot

3rd Place Finishers:

  • Jude Witkowski (4-1): 4 pins
  • Brian Orta (4-1): 2 pins, 1 technical fall, 1 injury default
  • James Del Mazo: 1 pin

4th Place Finishers:

  • Bailey Homer (3-2): 3 pins, all under 45 seconds
  • Chase LaFountain (2-2): 2 pins
