Spike Out Hunger Food Drive

Dear John Paul II families,

My name is Camryn Michael, and I am a senior at JPII. During my freshman year I initiated a food drive benefiting the St. Francis Center on St. Helena in which I titled “Spike Out Hunger” because it began within my volleyball team. The St. Francis Center serves those who are under-served by providing food, clothing, home repairs, assistance with utility and prescription payments, and access to education. Even though the years I collected within my volleyball team were very successful, I found that last year I was able to support the St. Francis Center even more by opening it up to the entire school. After the collection is complete, I deliver all the items to the St. Francis Center and seeing the joy on everyone’s faces is incredible and such a heart-warming feeling. I hope that this year, my last year at JPII, can be the most memorable and collect the most items yet. This collection will be taking place starting on Monday, September 9 and continue until Friday, September 20. If you or your child brings in any food items, the bins will be in the athletic center outside of the athletic office. Thank you all and I hope that together as a school we can all help make a difference in the lives of those at the St. Francis Center! Below are the items requested by Sister Canice at the St. Francis Center:

*Important Items to bring in*

  • Peanut Butter (16 oz)
  • Dry Pasta (Elbow and Spaghetti)
  • Instant Coffee/Tea Bags
  • Canned Vegetables (Mixed Veggies, Peas, Greens)
  • Small Sugar
  • Rice (1-2 lbs.)
  • Ramen Noodles
  • Salad Dressings
  • Oatmeal and Grits
  • Cookies/Crackers

Thank you in advance for your help!

God bless you and your families!
