John Paul II Catholic School is proud to announce the recipients of this year’s rising 9th grade scholarship, awarded to four outstanding students who have exemplified academic excellence, spiritual maturity, and a desire to lead.
These students earned their awards through a rigorous, multi-step selection process that reflects the school’s high academic standards and commitment to forming faith-filled scholars. Students who score in the top 20% of those taking the High School Placement Test at JPII were named semi-finalists. These students were then invited to submit a 250-word essay responding to the prompt: “Why I want to become/remain a Golden Warrior.” A scholarship committee—comprised of the principal, a counselor, and a 9th-grade teacher—reviewed the submissions and selects four finalists for in-person interviews.
From those four, one student was selected as the recipient of the Monsignor Ronald Cellini Scholarship, a prestigious award providing $5,000 annually toward tuition for each year the student remains enrolled at JPII, for a total of $20,000. The three remaining finalists each receive a $2,500 scholarship to be applied toward their freshman year tuition.
Joseph Snyder was named the 2025 Monsignor Cellini Scholarship recipient—the top honor. This award is presented to a student who demonstrates exceptional academic promise, strong character, and a sincere commitment to living out the Catholic faith.
“Joseph is beyond mature and was most comfortable in his interview speaking with us about his time at JPII,” said Principal Heather Rembold. “We were impressed with his faith, candor, and desire to be challenged.”
In addition to Joseph, Ella Bekemeyer, Adam D’Orazio, and Cia Douglass were each awarded a $2,500 scholarship. These three students stood out for their thoughtful essays, compelling interviews, and unwavering commitment to their academic and spiritual growth.
President David Lima expressed pride in the recipients: “These young men and women reflect the values we hold dear—faith, scholarship, and integrity. We are excited to walk with them as they continue to grow in wisdom and grace.”
As these four students prepare to begin their high school journey, the JPII community celebrates their achievements and prays that their gifts will continue to flourish in the years ahead.
