JPII Student Megan Fox Selected for Prestigious Naval Academy Summer Seminar

John Paul II Catholic School proudly congratulates junior Megan Fox on her acceptance to the highly competitive Naval Academy Summer Seminar, taking place May 30–June 4, at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. This immersive, six-day program offers students a firsthand look at life as a midshipman—combining rigorous academic sessions, leadership development, physical training, and team-based challenges designed to test both mind and character.

Participants live in the dorms, attend workshops in engineering and naval sciences, engage in military-style drills, and build camaraderie with peers from across the country. The experience is designed to develop discipline, resilience, and leadership—qualities that align closely with JPII’s SHIELD values. Students leave with a deeper understanding of service, sacrifice, and what it means to lead with purpose.

For Megan, the opportunity is both meaningful and motivating. “For years now, I’ve intended on applying to Summer Seminar and, more importantly, the Naval Academy,” she said. “I desire to challenge myself academically and physically, while also being in a leadership position. This opportunity allows me to experience a high-standard environment firsthand while working alongside strong leaders.”

Megan credits her time at JPII for helping prepare her for this moment. “My experience at JPII has challenged me academically while also giving me opportunities to serve and grow as a leader. Through clubs and leadership roles, I’ve learned teamwork and how to hold myself to high standards. JPII’s focus on character and service aligns closely with the Naval Academy.”

She looks forward to the discipline and structure of the program, as well as connecting with other driven students. “I’m excited to meet like-minded individuals, even though there’s some nervousness in not knowing exactly what to expect,” she added.

This experience has further strengthened her desire to serve. “Being accepted has made me more motivated and committed to serving others. I’ve always wanted to serve, but pursuing a service academy would allow me to be part of something greater than myself.”

Megan encourages fellow students to step outside their comfort zones: “Pursue opportunities that challenge you—even if failure is possible. Growth comes from hard work and being around people who push you to be your best.”

JPII Principal Heather Rembold shared her pride, noting her personal connection to the program. “We are incredibly proud of Megan for earning this outstanding opportunity. Having seen the impact of Summer Seminar through my own son, Sam, I know this experience will challenge, inspire, and shape her in extraordinary ways. Megan truly embodies the leadership, discipline, and servant-hearted spirit we strive to cultivate at JPII.”
