JPII Students Chosen for Palmetto Boys State Premier Civic Leadership Program

John Paul II Catholic School is proud to announce that juniors Archer Dewig and Ben Solomons have been selected to represent JPII at the American Legion Palmetto Boys State, one of South Carolina’s most respected and competitive youth leadership programs.

Palmetto Boys State is more than a summer program—it’s a transformative experience designed to develop future leaders through hands-on engagement in state government, public speaking, civic responsibility, and team leadership. Held annually on the campus of Anderson University, the weeklong event immerses students in the democratic process as they build a model government from the ground up.

“Our delegates are chosen for their strong character, emerging leadership, and commitment to service,” said Principal Heather Rembold. “We are incredibly proud of Archer and Ben for stepping into this opportunity. The experiences and connections they will gain through Boys State will be a powerful foundation for their futures.”

Students selected for Palmetto Boys State often go on to pursue careers in government, law, military service, business, and education. The program is also known for opening doors to prestigious scholarships and college admissions opportunities, making it a pivotal moment in the high school careers of young men across the state.

“This is such a meaningful opportunity for both Archer and Ben,” said College and Career Counselor Cara Buckland. “Boys State challenges students to grow as leaders, problem-solvers, and citizens. It will prepare them not just for college, but for life beyond JPII.”

JPII congratulates these outstanding young men as they prepare to represent our school , their family, and community at the state level. We look forward to the leadership, service, and inspiration they will bring back to our halls.
