JPII Juniors and Seniors Explore New Opportunities at Lowcountry College Fair

Seventy-seven juniors and seniors from John Paul II Catholic School recently attended the Lowcountry Independent School College Fair, held at Savannah State University, an exciting event that brought together more than 100 representatives from colleges and universities across the nation.

The fair offered JPII students a valuable chance to introduce themselves to admissions representatives, ask questions, and gather insight into schools they may one day call home. Over the course of an hour and a half, students explored the fair, using a list of participating schools as a guide and approaching any table to speak directly with college reps.

“This fair is such an important experience for our students," said JPII Counselor Hayley Piña. "It’s not just about collecting brochures—it’s about making those first connections with the people who will eventually be reading their applications. Our students gain confidence by putting themselves out there and learning how to engage in meaningful conversations about their futures.”

The event left a strong impression on many seniors, who said it broadened their horizons. One student commented: “I thought I knew which colleges I was interested in, but I discovered some schools I hadn’t considered before.” Others said their only disappointment was that the fair wasn’t longer—they wanted even more time to connect with representatives.

“I was so proud to see our JPII students representing themselves with maturity, curiosity, and confidence," said Ms. Piña. "Experiences like this are a reminder that our Golden Warriors are preparing not only for college, but for life.”

With new possibilities on the horizon, JPII’s juniors and seniors returned inspired, motivated, and ready to take the next steps toward their futures.
