Faith, Fun, and Community: JPII’s Catholic Schools Week 2025

Every year, Catholic Schools Week takes center stage at JPII, bringing a renewed sense of joy, faith, and unity to our school community. It is a time to celebrate not only the academic excellence of Catholic education but also the deep-rooted faith that makes our school special.

"Catholic education is above all a question of communicating Christ, of helping to form Christ in the lives of others," said Saint John Paul II. This week reflected that mission as students, teachers, and staff came together to honor the values that define JPII and celebrated the national “Catholic Schools: United in Faith and Community” theme.

JPII Principal Heather Rembold underscored the significance of Catholic education. "Across the country, Catholic schools have been instrumental in nurturing well-rounded individuals who excel academically, spiritually, and morally. Nearly 1.8 million students are currently enrolled in Catholic schools, a testament to the continued importance of faith-based education," she said.

The week was packed with spirited celebrations, starting with a variety of Dress Down Days that added a playful twist to the festivities:

Monday – Night In vs. Night Out Day let students showcase their style, whether dressed for a cozy night at home or an evening out.

Tuesday – Meme Day filled the halls with creative costumes inspired by favorite internet memes.

Wednesday – Sunday Best brought a touch of class as students dressed in their finest.

Thursday – Dress as Your Grade had underclassmen taking on babyhood while upperclassmen channeled their inner senior citizens.

Friday – JPII Spirit Wear wrapped up the week in a sea of blue and gold, celebrating our school pride.

Beyond the fun, Catholic Schools Week remained rooted in faith. One of the most moving moments was the Living Rosary, a powerful tradition where students and staff physically formed a Rosary and prayed together as a united school community.

"Catholic Schools Week reinforces the idea that our schools are not just places of learning but places where bonds are formed, values are instilled, and faith is deepened,” said Mrs. Rembold. "As we proudly wear our costumes and spirit gear, we also wear our love and dedication to Catholic education, reminding everyone that we are united by faith, family, and a passion for knowledge."

As Saint John Paul II reminded us, “Do not be afraid. Do not be satisfied with mediocrity. Put out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.” Catholic Schools Week 2025 was a true testament to the faith, joy, and excellence that define John Paul II Catholic School.
