DECA Goes to State Conference

Twenty-eight of our DECA students competed at the State Conference this past week in Charleston, and seven earned callbacks, placing in the top 10 of their respective divisions. Competitors were evaluated using a balanced scoring system: 50% based on a comprehensive subject-area exam and 50% based on a role play or presentation delivered in front of a judge. Those students placing were Michael Fitzgibbons, Lily Kate Garick, Maddie Burke, Megan Fox, Adam Logan, Joseph Snyder, and Aanya Patel.

This is an outstanding achievement for a small school that does not offer these courses as part of the regular curriculum—our students participate solely through a club model. Even more impressively, two of our members scored high enough to qualify for competition at the international level, taking place at the end of April. Maddie and Megan have the opportunity to represent JPII! Go, Warriors!
