John Paul II Catholic School recently welcomed Nick Eason, collegiate football coach and defensive tackles coach for the Clemson Tigers, during one of his recruiting trips through South Carolina. Known for his extensive recruitment coverage across South Carolina, Florida, Georgia, and Alabama, Coach Eason visited JPII to meet with up-and-coming football players and share his insights on what it takes to excel as a college athlete.
During his visit, Coach Eason met with JPII players in grades 8 through 10. "He spoke about the qualities he seeks in recruits—emphasizing not only athletic talent but also excellent character, leadership, and the ability to positively represent the Clemson football program," said JPII head football coach, Shayne Milligan. "Coach Eason provided an overview of the daily in-season schedule of a Division I college football player, underscoring the commitment, discipline, and dedication required to succeed both on and off the field."
The discussion also touched on academic requirements for admission to Clemson University, encouraging athletes to prioritize their studies alongside their athletic pursuits. "Coach Eason also offered valuable advice about surrounding oneself with like-minded peers who share similar goals and maintaining a positive, focused mindset," said coach Milligan. "He also emphasized the importance of using social media responsibly, warning players about the potential pitfalls and the impact online behavior can have on recruitment and future opportunities."
Thanks to Coach Eason for the invaluable insights shared with the team. The visit inspired players and highlighted the importance of preparation, perseverance, and character in achieving their goals as student-athletes.
