Blessing of the Campus Statues: A Sign of Faith, Love, and Memory

On Monday, December 8, in celebration of the Feast of the Immaculate Conception and Our Lady of Guadalupe, our school community gathered for Mass and a moment of profound grace. Following the Eucharistic celebration, we prayerfully blessed the two statues that adorn the front of our campus—visible reminders of faith, legacy, and the love that binds our community together.

One statue, dedicated to Saint John Paul II, was created as part of an Eagle Scout project by Class of 2022 alumnus Aidan Tibbitt. Aidan’s vision, craftsmanship, and devotion brought to life a statue that now welcomes every student, family, and guest to our campus, reminding us of the saint whose name we bear and whose call to courage, holiness, and joy still inspires us every day.

The second statue, Our Lady of Guadalupe, stands in tender memory of Anna Odile Marie Synnett, the infant daughter of former JPII English teacher Conor Synnett and his wife Bernadette. Through this memorial, the Synnett family and our community honor Anna’s life and reminding us that Mary, our Mother, is always close.

Principal Heather Rembold, who has known both the Aidan and Synnett families for many years, shared: “These statues hold deep meaning because they represent love lived out in faith. To watch Aidan grow from an grade school student into a young man of character, and to walk alongside the Synnett family through joy and sorrow, has been a privilege. Their generosity and courage are woven into the heart of our school.”

This blessing is more than a ceremony—it is a visible sign of the Church’s belief that sacred art draws us toward God, inspires us to pray, and reminds us of the communion of saints. The statues stand not only as symbols, but as invitations to pause, to reflect, and to remember that Christ and His Mother are present here, among us.

May Our Lady of Guadalupe wrap her mantle of protection around our school, and may Saint John Paul II continue to guide us in faith and joyful discipleship.
