A Sweet Start to Midterm Review!

Just before Thanksgiving Break, Mrs. Nicole Schawang’s math classes took learning to a whole new level of fun with a festive cake walk — and it was a hit! Each step, spin, and smile brought review material to life as students prepared for their upcoming midterms in the most delicious way possible.

Thank you to the many families who generously donated cakes. Because of your support, students were greeted with tables full of tempting treats and even sweeter moments of laughter and learning. Each time a number was called and a student answered correctly, there was a burst of excitement — and sometimes even a victory dance — as a homemade cake found its new owner.

Beyond the frosting and fun, this experience played an important role in helping our young mathematicians succeed. Review activities like this reinforce concepts, build confidence, and encourage a positive attitude toward learning — especially before midterms. When students are actively engaged, moving, laughing, and cheering for one another, the material becomes more memorable and the stress of exams melts away.

Mrs. Schawang shared, “Any time we can make math joyful, students relax, participate more fully, and believe in themselves. The cake walk showed them that hard work can be rewarding — and a whole lot of fun!”

It was a sweet celebration of learning and community — and a reminder that at JPII, math is anything but ordinary.
