A Joyful Start to the 2025–26 School Year at JPII!

John Paul II Catholic School is once again filled with laughter, energy, and joy as we embark on another exciting school year! Last week marked a great beginning for our Golden Warriors, as students, faculty, and families came together for a week full of tradition, celebration, athletics, and faith.

We started with Middle School Orientation on Monday and High School Orientation on Tuesday, where students reconnected with friends, met new classmates, and prepared for the year ahead. Parents had their own orientation of sorts where they were also able to reconnect during a brief meeting with our administration. By Wednesday, the entire JPII family was together for the first full day of school, greeted by cheerful welcome signs and a colorful balloon arch display courtesy of our wonderful and "always ready-to-celebrate" PTO. Their joyful touch set the tone for a year filled with spirit and community.

To complete the week, on Friday we gathered for our first All-School Mass, celebrating the Feast of the Assumption of Mary. This special liturgy was made even more meaningful as it was celebrated by our new chaplain, Fr. Daniel Perry, who joined us in lifting our hearts in prayer and thanksgiving.

The week’s celebrations carried into the weekend as Friday Night Lights were shining bright with a hard-fought 31–22 victory over the Colleton Prep War Hawks. The win moves JPII to a strong 1–0 start to the season, powered by a balanced attack and a swarming defense. The Golden Warriors will travel to 4A Laurence Manning Academy on Friday, August 22nd, looking to continue their momentum.

Meanwhile, our Cross Country team laced up for their season debut at the Skyhawk Invitational this past Saturday. Forty-six teams endured a saturated and muddy course, but our Golden Warriors rose to the challenge and performed exceptionally well in their opening race. Congratulations to all of our runners on a strong start!

JPII President David Lima reflected on the week: “We are so grateful to welcome our students, families, faculty, and staff back to campus. The start of a new school year is always a special time, filled with hope and the promise of growth. Together, guided by faith and inspired by our mission, we look forward to another incredible year as a community of learners and believers.”

With hearts full of gratitude and excitement, JPII looks ahead to a year filled with academic achievement, athletic success, faith-filled experiences, and lasting memories. Here’s to a blessed 2025–26 school year—Go Golden Warriors!
